I have been asked to do 10 6"x9" lithopanes using Corian. Would it be reasonable to expect to be able to complete all ten using just one 1/16" carving bit? Corian has got to be harder on the bit than carving in wood and I know a lot depends on the individual pictures but I have no idea on the life expectancy of a carving bit in Corian. Just a ball park figure would help.

Thanks

In my experience, you'll be just fine. You're looking at 540 square inches of corian, I've carved more than that in corian (plus all my wood that I've carved) and I'm still on my original bit. I do keep them clean though.

I agree I have carved more than 10 pictures in Corian and a lot of wood on the same bit.

Thanks. That was the answer I was hoping for!

I just finished carving 2 - 30" X 20" patterns in corian and the bit is still good.

I also did 16 5x7 lithos for christmas orders and gifts from myself and all with the bit I am still using now months later for wood and more corian.
