does the old bit set fit the new machines?

They will if you use the 1/2 - 1/4 bit adapter. It fits in the "C" model fine. That's the way I have mine set up.

To retrofit them, remove the old QC adapters. You need to purchase the following:

1/4" rubber stop collars (package of 10)
1/2" rubber stop collars (package of 10)
1/4" split collet
