Maybe fewer troubles = fewer posts?

I'd really like to think that, and I'm pretty sure "AL Who" plus a few others might agree.
Still it would be nice of them to check-in now and then to show off their new projects and photos,
to let know how their doing.

I'm not sure what constitutes an active member but the true number of Carvewright owners on this forum is nowhere near the 10.8k listed as members. Thousands of those are banned spammers, and many more are spammers & bots just waiting to be banned. Some of the banned ones still visit the forum on a regular basis and skew the number of 'online' users as well.

Well, I can tell you that I have not been active in a while due to my machine having been down so long. Now that I received my parts I have not had time to do anything. This includes fixing the machine. I do still read occasionally, but find my self on the cncartguild most often, live chatting. I do have a new idea that I will be showing off soon.

I think we did a good job and helped people get through the bad times when the QC almost ruined LHR's public relations to the point of no return. The original Mods do a fantastic job here and I thank you.

Having said this I am one that loves to show off any cool tools and CNC's

Here is Megan playing a liquid Violin made on the CW, Lightwave, and Designer, I named it the V1 after LHR's programing department's Designer ver 1.
I also like to give a shout out to Chris M now not at LHR.

They can do a lot of things. Mostly they try to access information about users, spam with advertisements, etc. Some are search engine information harvesters for Google, Yahoo, etc. Overall, they are (of can be) a real pain in the buttocks!

Yep! and now some of 'em are starting 'groups' here where they are invisible far longer than if they spam on the forum. Keep the vigil and let the Mods know the instant you see one by using the 'report this post' thingy.

As for me. Over the past year I have been in the hospital 4 times. Twice they thought I would die. I have also had around 65 Doctor visits. I already have had 3 more appointments this year and have 3 specialists to see next week. Sorry to say it but I haven't been in my shop for 3 or 4 months now. This is the first time in a while that I feel up to checking in and seeing what projects everyone is working on.

Sorry to hear about your health issues, they do crop up as time goes by,
We're glad you feel well enough to check in on the Forum.

Take care of yourself -- our thoughts and prayers will be with you.

Getting old can be a pain- literally. As ken said, out thoughts and prayers are with you. As for me, I get here as often as I can to view or to comment when it can be helpful. I also tell my Start U contacts to use the forum. But if you were to track the older visits category, they were probably mostly about the QC, no longer a problem. Now the biggest problem showing up is the Y gear box bearings. But that is only every 250 to 300 hrs. Could a feature be added to move the Y truck to the center for cleaning be added so we don't have to push it? That might help this problem.

I know times are tuff, and health can play a roll on getting some carving done, but as for checking in with our family here on the forum I just couldn't do with out myself. I was down for months after getting ran over by a jeep, but I still got on line and checked in. I"m glad you seen the same thing Ken, I was just thinking it was just me and thinking there are a lot of regulars not checking in anymore. Sorry I can't answer the question as to where they are at, but hopefully they'll show back up.

I am thankful for all those old ‘active members’ that have shared their questions, wisdom, patterns and mpcs! I have been sifting through all those old posts for 2 months now… I still learn something new every day. I have carved over 20 projects already – with plenty more ‘in the hopper’. Is this obsession going to taper off? I’m afraid I have become a carvaholic… I’m just thinking that new members will become more active as others drop off. LG –Thanks for sharing what this machine can really create!

Well I'm guilty of moving off the CW to work more with the CNC I built in my garage. The CW is gathering dust. Nothing wrong with it, just needed a machine with more capacity and flexibility.

I'm with Pratyeka move off the CW onto Shark and now in the process of building a 5 axis unit. The CW was good to start with but now seems rather limited in it's function. Still have the CW set-up, but I'm finding fewer and fewer reasons to use it..

All donations of CW machines are very welcome for those that no longer have use for them! :-D

What constiptues a active member.

That was a good question and I had no idea. Looked it up and our forum is set to post Active Members as those that have been online within the last 30 days. That time frame seems a little short to me.

Are you an active member if all you do is log in and read the the various posts? I am getting ready to fire up one of my machines any day now. Looking for a couple of patterns for starters and complete setting up.
