It has been almost 4 months since I've been on here. I've been swamped with flat work projects involving no carving and quite a bit of lathe work. But... I just finished this stand that a unit places out in front of the soldiers when they are graduating from Basic Training. The old one was broken and the "other" vendor in town wanted to charge them $2K to rebuild it in straight walnut. I changed the design a little and used some yellow heart for the cannons and blood wood for the letters. the Drill Sergeant badges are done with a laser. I had a two week period to get this done, so the finish could be a little better, but it still got 6 coats of ploy since it will spend some time outside. Comments and critiques always welcome.

They definitely liked my price better than the other vendor. I charged $120 for the materials and another $30 for the laser work which I had a friend do. I don't charge for labor for military projects.
