Hello,

I was visiting the soigeneris.com website this evening and see that the 1/16" carving bits are priced at only $22.95 each!

Here's the link for anyone interested: http://www.soigeneris.com/PreciseBits_Tapered_Carving_Tools-details.aspx

Unless they sell the bits with the press on sleeves I would go with LHR's bits as the best ones to own, especially if you own the Rock or CT. No more guessing where the bit goes and if it's to small to get a good grab.

I received my 2 bits today, but they are too short. Aren't they supposed to be the same length like the standard ones from LHR? I use the 1/2 sleeve in my CT that I had on my Rock so I imagine I could make it work. I just thought they were supposed to be longer.

They will hold but make sure you crank it down tight and place the mill outs correctly so the sleeve has max contact.

Thanks Brandon, I just sent Jeff an email asking that question. Just wanted to make sure that I could use them that short in my sleeve. Bits look really good so I'm gonna put them to good use! :)

Can you use a regular collet from a router along with a collar stop attached to the bit and put it into the CarveTight spindle?

I just finished a project & it worked fine. I have a CT, but I also use a sleeve from my previous Rock chuck. The bit worked just fine for me.

I think what I meant to say in my previous post was "collet sleeve" and not just "collet".

I tried my 1/2 to 1/4 sleeve from my router and it fits right in the CT with a 1/4 inch router bit. I'm not sure if it would be safe to do this but wonder if anybody has ever tried this before?

What other ways are there to use one of those 1/16 carving bits?

Generally speaking split adapter sleeves/bushings are not very accurate. Those made for hand routers are typically pretty awful, I would not recommend using them on your CarveWright machine. There are other methods to hold different sized bits. Keep watching my website for details.
