Ive done a couple. All elements (ptn) in the MPC must be yours to do so.

Hello all,

Has anyone converted from MPC to PTN ?

Happy New Years,
DaveAs stated above, you must own the items involved.
Go to my "download" link, below, and review the lesson titled "making a Complex pattern".
I think the concept shown will accomplish your task.

I make patterns from MPC lots of times, I posted an example on the forum back in November 2011.

Hello,

Thank you for the advice. The MPC contains artwork that is my own. But I do not own the Pattern editor. Is there another way to convert from MPC to PTN using only Designer?. The MPCs contain only lines and arcs created in AutoCAD and then either cut paths or carve regions. I will not have anything else in them.

Thank you for your help,
Dave Anderson

Hi Dave,

I wrote a Tips & Tricks in Sept. 2008 that describes the procedure how to make patterns from some or all of the carveable (raster) elements on your MPC (see page 6). You do not need to own the Pattern Editor for that. Here is the link...

Hello guys. I tried the instructions above. Just an FYI. I created my lines in AutoCAD, converted thru Adobe Illustrator and AI2MPC into Designer. I have release 1.164 for Designer. My plan is to convert from MPC to PTN. When I try and make the lines (AI) into a pattern I get the message shown below. Does this mean I am out of luck?

Thank you for your patience and time.

DaveAll patterns require carve regions, not lines.
my "download" link, below, has a lesson titled "Making a complex pattern".

Hello guys,

I am really frustrated here. I have downloaded "Making a complex pattern". And thank you Askbud for making the tutorial. Buy I still get the message below. If I delete the Adobe Illustrator conversion I have in it the "Make Pattern" works. But I need the converted lines. Is anyone able to help me?

Thank you for your patience.
Dave

DaveI need to see the MPC to be able to know what the problem might be.
Attaching the MPC will help.
If it is proprietary, you could email it to me.
I'll also send you a private message with my current phone number (I move from location to location).
