I read the post about virtual vs real board sizes. In order to make
a design, and stay under the rollers, does the board have to 7"
longer that the actual design. If so, after completing the carving,
do you then make a cut to eliminate the excess board length?

By design, yes. There are 2 ways around this. 1. You can option to not stay under rollers which will work for some projects with minimal snipe happening,(depends on board size and project) 2. You can opt to stay under rollers and put numerious projects on 1 board and minimize lost wood.

Thanks Menefly & PKUNK,
I guess when I get the machine I will have to experiment with it.
