Where the white circle is I need to make a round bottom groove about 1/2" wide x 1/8-3/16 deep.

I tried using the depth profile and it doesn't make it all around or it tapers around.

don't have a 1/2 ball nose bit?

will a 1/2 shank bit from the woodworking store work or do I need a carvewright one?

If you have a split collet the 1/4 inch shank, from LHR, will work.

If you get a bit somewhere else, make sure it is has Carbide cutters.

Just a router bit from woodcraft.

Trying not spend any more money right now if I don't need to.

Just made a circle in Paint.Net and added some blur, saved it as png file and imported into designer
and made a ptn file of it --- I also made a pattern of it so I could post and share it,
or save it for myself for later use. You can do the same thing with most any shape and clean it up with our pattern editor.
