Those look great! Is the pattern on the forum somewhere? If not, would you consider sharing?

If anyone knows if this was a purchased pattern, I would appreciate being directed to it so that I could buy it. Or if it's been shared, I would also appreciate being directed to that link. I admire the clean design of this project and would like to make a few.

Thanks!

Sorry, no pattern just a box with splines really. nutt'n special.

Scratch that, here's the link for the plans (http://americanwoodworker.com/blogs/projects/archive/2009/02/20/keepsake-box.aspx). If you make one, post it up, I would love to see!

Thanks! I was hoping it was a Carvewright project. Your finished boxes look great!

I just completed a couple of keepsake boxes similar to these. The CW was only used for engraving the name on the lid. What made these projects 'special' was that the wood used was harvested in my and my neighbors backyards and was saved from the firewood pile. Cyndy watched us cut down the oak tree that her box was made from and I saved a log from the splitter after she left--it was a birthday surprise! And I couldn't very well do that without saving a log from the Hickory tree from my yard for Mary Jane (my wife)!

Well Done ! I like the wood. Was the log allowed to dry out ?

The hickory was pretty dry--it'd been standing dead for quite a while. After slicing it up, it acclimated in my basement shop for a few weeks to dry out further. The oak was wetter and after the same period of time it wasn't dry enough. So I nuked the planks to finish drying 'em out before machining. It was a birthday present, so waiting wasn't an option.
