I just wanted to say Happy Veterans Day to all of my sisters and brothers out there who are serving, have served or will someday serve. I want to thank everyone that didn't serve for supporting us in our mission to keep America the greatest nation in the world.
To the World War II (1939-1945) vets I say Thank You so very much ... both of my grandpas served, their plane left the states going two different directions.
To veterans of the Korean War (1950-1953) I want to say ... No you are really not forgotten and no you didn't fight the "Forgotten War" ... .
To those brave men and women who served in the jungles of Viet Nam (1960-1975) I want to apologize and say welcome home ...
To the vets who served in Grenada and Panama ... Hoooorah ....
To the American soldiers who served in the original Gulf War the "Persian Gulf War" (1990-1991) ... "It doesn't take a hero to order men into battle. It takes a hero to be one of those men who goes into battle." Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf
To all of the Military men and women still serving in Afghanistan (CarveWright owner SSgt. David J. Wert), Iraq, and elsewhere around the world ... protecting us and keeping the wolves at bay I say THANK YOU. To all of those serving in a support capacity I say THANK YOU ... .. THANK YOU!
In this "down turned" economy we may sometimes think differently, we may doubt Her greatness, we may take her name in vain, but America still stands for everything that is good in the World. We, Americans, are the greatest nation in the world and the American soldier is what keeps it that way.
Politicians, football coaches and even the St. Louis Cardinals come and go but the one constant for over 200 years has been our military protecting our borders.
If you see a Soldier in Uniform, notice someone wearing a Hat, a T-shirt, notice a sticker on the window of a car ... take a minute and say Thank You ... you will make an old veterans day!
Again to all VETERANS ... I snap to attention and solute you.
