I would like to order sandpaper drive belts. I saw someone listed customsandingbelts.com as a good place to buy them. I was on the website but I dont know what size to order, width, length, and it looks like they are asking 2 lengths and thickness of the paper and grit?

Ray , just order the sandpaper belts from LHR, that way you know they fit the machine.

The original post said to just call them and tell them you need belts for your carvewright/compucarve and they know the size. I haven't ordered from them (yet) but just wanted to let you know.

That was me. I know it is convenient to use a web site to order, but in this case if you call they know what you need and are very helpful. I suggest ordering a couple of sets to make use of the postage, or get belts for any other machines you may have.

How much are they DickB? Are the savings that much as compared to LHR? How are they holding up? I know what your saying myshop but sometimes you can get the same thing for alot less. Especially if they are wearing out alot. I only have 6-7 hours on my machine and the back one has already torn alittle.

Thats an indicator that there is something else going on with the machine. Your head pressure may be off, board got caught, bad board, etc. If you don't pinpoint the cause of the issue, you are gonna wind up replacing them over and over again.

I paid $4.80 each for quantity 6. Shipping was about $9 IIRC. They are holding up fine and look identical to the original ones. The number on the invoice is 15-13AO120J.

I agree with Alex on this. I've got over 100 hrs on my machine and just recently had a problem with one belt rolling under. No tears or holes, etc.

Thanks for the info. I think your right atauer. I think the wood tore it. It's alittle rough not sanded.

Rough is good, as long as it isn't too rough. Too smooth, and the board is gonna slip on the belts. I've seen that first hand. Ruined a very nice piece of oak that I had resawn and glued up for a project.

I was just on the customsandingbelt.com website. I'm a bit comfused, DickB you say the # for the sanding belts is 15-13AO120J. Icutone2 mentions different #'s. The Zirconia Alumina price is $10.04 each. Did you mean the Aluminum Oxide Icutone? Also what thickness do you order?
