For those of you that have cut out my letter opener, here is a little different method of cutting.
I creaated an offset vector around the pattern, made a carve region with depth of .375 and left the depth of pattern at .37 and added a couple custom tabs.
As you can see in the pictures, it made a very clean cut around the handle and left a nice sharp edge on the blade. This one was cut in pine so there a few fuzzies. Otherwise, it should take very little sanding to finish the project.
