pattern cuts

I saw a pattern on the website that I am interested in buying. It's a religious cross. I'm wonder, how does the machine cut through a board without cutting the drive belt?

The bit is between the 2 belts..... No chance of damage..... EVEN when you do a Cut Path around a pattern and have a cut path near the edge of the board that rides on the Brass Roller, the head lifts over the brass roller area leaving the wood.
