This picture is of a very practical hand carved spoon in maple which is great for stews. I like to cook. I use it all the time cause it can get into the corner of the pot. Can this be created in designer? Would someone help me through the process, or if not, a pattern would be great.
Thanks.

To create that spoon fairly exact..your looking at a 3d program to make..Ideal for nurbs

I normally make my spoons by hand, takes about 30 minutes, even with the ones I turn the handle on. ever think of making it by hand?

Jason John has some new words, and nurbs are good, just as quads are.

On the spoon Henry posted (designed by LG) place a rectangle on the side, with a 0.0 depth, and another one on the tip with the same depth. This will give you the flat side and tip. You would have to finish cutting out the spoon using a band saw or coping saw or by another means.

Sure Henry, you may need to sand it a littlle around the edges,
My thought was to use it to pour flapjack batter on the campfire griddle
when we go camping in the fall.

Ps. When I use a bent ladle -- half the batter ends in the fire.

Tons of stuff on the web to read, I like to use Mineral Oil on mine.

Here's one site with some good info.
Wood Care
Items made of unfinished, unlacquered wood, such as many bowls, spoons, cutting boards and knife handles,
require only minimal care in order to retain their unmatched beauty, longevity, and practicality.

I agree with Ken, mineral oil, plus I use walnut oil, and sometimes salad bowl finish, or carnauba wax/bluffed if just for decoration.

I haven't tried to carve any Spatulas myself, so I don't Know if they'll work,
but if anyone wants to play around or experiment with these 2 sided mpc files
please -- let us know what you come up with.
