wondering here how to use the rout tool. If i draw a rectangle, then select the rout tool...i can choose what size router bit to use.

Couple of questions:

Is the line of the rectangle the "centerline" of the router bit? If so, must my layout(s) allow for the diameter of the bits I choose?

Does the machine try to take the whole depth of cut in one pass?

Also, can I use the 1/8 cutting bit as a 1/8 router bit?

thanks....trying to learn more out of the software.

1) Is the line of the rectangle the "centerline" of the router bit? If so, must my layout(s) allow for the diameter of the bits I choose? Yes, it's the centerline of the bit. Right now you have to manually offset the path by 1/2 the dia of the bit as the 'Copy Offset' tool only works for beta testers.

2) Does the machine try to take the whole depth of cut in one pass? No it takes multiple passes.

3) Also, can I use the 1/8 cutting bit as a 1/8 router bit? Yes, I do this all the time.

thank you jeff!!! :)
but, even with the copy offset, (i am a beta tester) it seems you have to allow for half the diameter of the bit. Still playing around here!!!
