I finally finished the 2 jewelry boxes I’ve been working on for the last month. One thing after another just kept interfering with working on these. I made these for each of my daughters-in-law for their birthdays that are coming up real soon. It’s a good thing I got started on them early or I might not have finished them in time. At least now I can move on to other projects.

Those are absolutely wonderful and im sure they will treasure them forever. Any photos of the inside of the box? curious if you used any covering like flocking or felt.

The insides are just wood with gloss finish. I did carve a pattern on the bottom of the inside.

Very, very well done - are they mahogany?

They are both done in hard maple with a danish oil and a high gloss finish.

I know this is a stupid question but how did you put the box together? I've been wanting to make some boxes but I'm struggling with dovetail joint or not. I can't even see anything on your boxes did you use staples or brad nails?

The 4 peices that make up the side all have a 45 deg bevel on each end. I carved a square into the bottom that matches the size of the finished box. That helped in getting the sides set on the base. I dry fit everything twice before gluing it. Once I was happy with how everything fit good I glued the sides to the base and at each corner using framing clamps. If you want I would be happy to write a more detailed description of everything and either post it or e-mail it to you. It's a little involved to write up real quick.

They look great, just wondering if you used the edge route on the machine for the tops and bottoms? I'm having a hard time getting mine to come out right.

I did use the CW to do the edge routing on the top and bottom.
