I live near Whiteman AFB where the A-10 Warthog's and the B-2 Stelth Bomber reside. The Warthog jockys target my place which is on a bluff over Truman Lake. So, I made this as a peace offering out of 8x10 litho with a model of the A-10 on top. I will be taking it up to the boys soon for a raffle they will have at the 303rd Fighter Squad. I hope the winner will enjoy it and that they make some bucks for the charity event. Now maybe they will do a few more barrell rolls over my place. At the bluff sometimes they even fly below my house. Lowes does not carry the flurescent puck light anymore, but I did find the light at Home Depot. Only one light is in the box. Sorry about the size of the photos, I was unable to reduce for some reason.

Here is another I made for a friend who was a Jarhead (Marine). When I gave it to him he went nuts. Of course I told him I know how to beat a Marine. Ya take a bag of sand, throw it up against a brick wall, and yell out, "Hit the Beach"!

We see a couple of A-10's fly over once or twice a week, they've be running Border Patrol

Now thats a really nice project. Just love the A-10 on top of the litho. Spent 10 years in Tucson where they train the pilots for the A-10's so I got to see them almost every day flying in formations of many styles. But again Nice job.

You will have to read the first writting on this thread I made and to see those photos. Anyway, today the 303rd Fighter Squadron had me up to the air base, Whiteman, to show me around. So, I hafeta show off a few of the photos taken. I got put into the cockpit of one of the A-10 Warthogs, see the base, and then got to be in the flight simulator of the A-10. Took off, well maybe from the grass, had ta figure the peddles out. And flew over the airport then on to Warsaw, Missouri where I showed them where I live off the bluff. They knew the location, no admission from anyone about targeting my house. It was really cool. They also had me target a, well maybe better not say on religious ground, but somewhere over Afghanistan and blow the living daylights out of the place. Rockets, then fly back over and unload with the guns. Anyway, it seems like I will be making a few more of these trophys for the guys. I am also currently making one for the 509th Bomber Wing. The B-2 Stelth Bomber. A little history of the 509th, they first came into existance in WWII and the flight was with the Enola Gay Aug 6th, 1945. The only unit to drop the big Bomb. I will take photos of that trophy when I get it done. Wow, what a great time I had today.:D

Great job Smoken D,

They were obviously pleased with your creation and your photos are great. I especially like the one of you standing next to the business end of that Big Stick they carry! Bravo Zulu.

Thanks everyone. Capt. Bruce did you notice all the powder burns on the nose? Something I did not know is when that big gun is fired the ignitors on the engine also fire up. The debris and flames thrown back to the engines from the gun fire can cause failure. So, the ignitors fire up to keep the engines re-started. One of very interresting things I learned that day. Only one 2 seater A-10 in the world. Out in California, dog gone!

That I did Sir,
Obviously a workin' rather than a showin' airplane there. Didn't know that about the ignitors but it sounds logical to help them avoid that condition of a glide ratio equivalent to a Mosser Safe.

Curious that you could not see the calendar among the controls they use instead of an airspeed indicator dial. (A little Warthog humor) Slow and steady kills tanks. Thanks for sharing this with us.
