Avonite

What is avonite? I came across something advertised as avonite/corian. Is this the new stuff everyone is raving about. Is it usable for lithopanes?

Avonite has been around awhile, the most common colors I've seen are the metallics, dunes and crystelles. Avonite machines just like corian and they make solid white colors Bone, Creme, Ivory and white.

Is it as expensive as Corian?

Avonite amd many other Corian clones (Formica, Meganite, Wilsonart, Hi-Macs) are all similar in price. They all have different colors/patterns but work the same. Here's an Avonite vanity top I did.44948

Avonite has been around since 1983 and is available in both 1/4" and 1/2" in several colors,
they have out lets in the USA and Canada if you check out this site and input your zip code
they'll give you a list of dealers near you --- I just tried it and found 10 outlet within 6 miles of me

I haven't bought any in the last 15 years, but remember it always a buck or two a sq foot less than Corian
