Really nice, I like the idea of a bar high home dining table.

Went to your page and looked at the pics. Great work. The split musta broke your heart, but I see that you got it re-done. How long did it take to get it finished?? I have never really wanted to make any furniture, but this may change my mind. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the compliment, That split did hurt. But, the wood was a little green, and I let the carving sit for a bit and it bowed. Overall, I took the best part of 3 months to complete it.

That is a really nice looking table.

I like building small furniture items but I'm always afraid of good, expensive, wood for fear that I'll screw it up. The last couple of things that I built were a pair of night stands and I got the hardwood for those out of the debris piles in a local housing subdivision.

I hear you but, if you look at how it's made, there really isn't much expensive wood at all. The base is all pine stained black. the top is two sheets of mdf with oak plywood. And, small sheets of exotic's for the Kinja scrolls. The biggest expensive would had been the walnut. But, I found if off of Craig'slist for a bargan.
