View Full Version : Carving through Layers

I was considering gluing layers of contrasting wood together and then carving through the light wood surface to get to the darker layer beneath. Has anyone tried anything like this? Any thoughts on glue types to use or not use? Other thoughts on technique, etc.?

I should have my CW next week. What other thing did you buy next (and wished you had got it when you got the CW)?

Thanks,
Joe

Joe,

I sure don't see any reason why that wouldn't work very nicely. The CarveWright will handle laminates of all kinds (wood) and I use Titebond III for most of my work when glue is required.

EXTRA BIT ADAPTERS
I would get the 1/2" ones and if you need to get a reducer to go to 1/4". thous are available elswhere.
This is MY preferance only . I just don't care for two little set screws holding a 20,000 rpm bit in place. The 1/2 " adapters use a threaded nut to hold the bit in place.
also the bit holder wrench is very helpfull for the 1/2" bit adapters.
