I overcranked the unit by accident. after cecking here and in the hardware manual I was told to manually crank the unit back down. I turned the direction with no result. I then turned the other threaded rod on the other side manyaly and it started to bring the unit down. I then returned to the 1st side and cranked it down some more the way it said in the manual. once I got it half way down I tried to crank the handle and nothing happened. I took the bolts and screws out to se what wasnt turning. it looks like to me after inspection that the crank and the 1st gear are not connected and turning as one. Im gong to stop rite here for now till I get some feedback.

so far I found this by searching on the fourm: clutch ring behind the crank broke in two.
the piece that I am seeing is on http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Craftsman-Parts/Engraving-tool-Parts/Model-133217540/0247/0716000/50032312/00009?componentDescription=SIDE%20PANEL&brandDescription=CRAFTSMAN&searchTerm= and its #152. Im not sure if thats why my clutch is not clicking or engaging it inner 1st gear

Just had this happen to mine. Parts are on the way as I type. The entire top of that side is what you'll get. It's called the 'Lateral Stabilizer Left Assembly'. Mine is under warranty so I don't know what they charge for it.

Take the handle off and look down in there. On mine I could plainly see the piece broke in half.
