Gents,
I've created a plaque which is known to some as the Cowboy's Commandments. I made this for a friend who attends a Cowboy Church here in Texas and it appears that now many of his friends are interested in purchasing this plaque and frankly I just don't know what to charge for it. It took approx. 4hrs to carve and 2 hrs to clean and stain. It's on a 11" by 24" board (picture is attached). Any recommendations on how to figure out a price or what a "ball park" figure would be to charge for it. Thanks for any advice, JerryB42862

I would charge around $45.00. More if it was painted. Nice job!

In my shop that would be a $85.00 sign Stain and painted. And I am raising all my prices next week... It would be $95.00 to $100.00 next week.... Then there is the first one Friend Discount.... Call it $75.00 as it would lead to more orders at $100.00....

Just me 2 Cents....

Nice WORK !!!!

Hello Al,

How do you determine the pricing on your work?

I am Al with this one, don't sell yourself short. With my sign shop I charge by the board foot the thickness times the width times the length divided by 144. Then I multiple by my set amount, a simple sign sign $25.00 a foot just wording. $30.00 including a simple image and detailed a minimum of $40.00 and up to what I think it is worth!

Ok Ike, not under cover, yet the photo you have posted, I do not believe is you, so in some way your still undercover.

Will Ike post a photo of what he looks like went not under cover.

Hope you know I am just having fun with the under cover bit.

LOL man.

You could considerably cut down carving time by doing the lettering as "centerline " if you have that feature and then just painting the letters to stand out.

Thanks... I believe I'll do that on the next one. Maybe cover the board with stick on shelf paper and then paint in the lettering. Appreciate the idea.

Thanks everyone. Here's a copy of my finished product. The next one I make I will definately use Centerline to save on the "carving" time and "painting" time.

JerryB,

Very very nice on your finish and it looks outstanding.

Centerline is really a good way to go. I love the centerline.

Jerry,

That is a cool project! Love the Commandments worded in that "hill-folk" style!

Jerry....centerline is the one purchase that I've never regretted getting. In fact, I've hardly used raster since I purchased centerline. I do like the way your sign turned out though.

The order sometimes depends on which version you find on the internet.
