Robb...anyway you can add screen shots or jpg of the patterns for everyone to see before they open?

Here are some snapshots to go with Roberts patterns

I like this format, but it is more difficult for the pattern author to do this becuase it will automaitcaly open their own patterns in Pattern editor. I like the snapshot of the imprt dialog becuase it give the dimensions (height, width, depth) that the author intended for the pattern.

I developed this slightly 3D MPC of the US Navy SEAL device to honor a retired Senior Chief SEAL who works with me. I hope this may serve others who want to honor another warrior. Please feel free to modify, improve and share the design as my skills are still limited.

Here's a carved view

If you wish to work on this I'll share the PTN or artwork for your use.

Thank you Eddie,

I keep learning and trying to give something back for all those who have helped me.

Does anyone have a doctors emblem they would like to share? Found out my doctor is a woodworker and we were talking about the CW and I thought I could make him a Name Plaque for my next visit in 2 weeks.

Here's a Freemason's compass and square as requested by Jerry. The Best was to do this is to add the "G" on after you load the pattern as then you can add draft to the G separately from the rest of the pattern depending on the size. I've included both an MPC with an example of how I did this as well as the PTN file without the "G". I hope y'all find this useful.

Here is a likeness of a 58 Chevy hood ornament I made using the new Vector Drawing and Pattern Modeling suites. I found a photo on the internet and imported into the Image Tracer, then used the Sweep tool to create the elements of the ornament. The Fleur-de-lis 01 was dropped in from the basic pattern library. It took a lot of tweaking to put together but I have learned a lot about the new modeling tools! See original photo I used, a JPG of the pattern, and the PTN below.

Mark,

Good job! Best way to learn is just sit and play..

Bergerud, the torus knot is one of the basic primitives in blender so this took about 1 minute to move into CW.

It is a kind of freaky symbol. The (p,q)−torus knots arise when considering the link of an isolated complex hypersurface singularity. lol.

I was talking to a scientist today at work about theoretical waveform propagation and since I have killed most of my brain cells he must have thought he talking to a fence post. A little bit like me trying to read about hypersurface singularities.

Have you seen my original thread on the trefoil knot? Mine is also a Mobius strip.

Wow. I had not (or don't remember). I can't even begin to see how you carved the rosewood strip with the CW. (Yes, I read how you did it but dang that is impressive)

Amazing work.

As a budding artist and having a slight academic background those were down right beautiful.

The main reason I originally bought the CW machine was because I could carve any surface that I could plot. I am still thrilled that I can generate a surface with a formula and the the machine will carve it for me.

Needed a short break from making a stained glass window and to let my fingers stop bleeding. Not used to it anymore since I have been spending more time doing woodworking.

But here is a quick and dirty pattern for a biohazard symbol for my friends in DTRA.

Basic radiation hazard symbol loaded.

The pattern is only the radiation hazard for your building pleasure.

An example for a potential fun carving shown. The skull was previously shared under my steam punk cabinet project. Pattern built with skull pattern and two circles with one having text decoration.

Nicely done on the Hazard symbols Gentlemen. We appreciate you sharing, and lets hope we never need to produce either of them.

This is definitely a symbol of the results of a hillbilly margarita. I'll fix this pattern later. I have two bottles of wine and some tequila in me. What a horrible combination. :o

Suzanne,

I am still waiting to see what you can do after sipping two bottles of wine. lol. I think I passed out after the last round of tequila and wine.

Playing around with quick easy patterns today. This took about 30 seconds. A beveled dollar sign.

I was doing some wood working but the heat beat me. Don't miss the northern winters but I do miss the northern summers. It is hot in the American south today (and the rest of the summer).
