Not sure if this is where I should post my request. If not, no slamming!

I used to have a pair of angel wings pattern. I have a request for a carve and can not locate it. I searched this site without success. Can anyone help locate one or does anyone have one?

Jonny, these are great, but need the wings a bit more flowing, feathers showing, and joined in the middle. I guess I should have stated this in prior message.

Can these wings be attached in the middle?

eelamb

When you say attached, just the points, or more of a over lap. To answer your question, yes I can attach them.

so I suppose this is a pretty good place to Post this one.

I have been working on a pattern, and thought I was done with it, but noticed one of the angled sides on the 5 point is missing on the bottom. Will have to figure this out. But here are a couple of images of the Luther Rose I have been working on. Sometime in the next day or so I will fit it and have the pattern ready.

I should mention I was in a block, had blinders on as they say and John lead me to the solution for the curved areas. Thanks John. And here is the finished pattern. I will have the pattern on my website later on.

I took the background off of this one.

Eddie,

Fantastic Luther's Rose!

Can't wait to carve this one to go on the recently completed altar furniture.

Shepherd of Peace Lutheran Church altar furniture constructed of Bolivian Rosewood veneers. The Luther Rose in light wood will serve as a perfect accent to the darker veneers.

Guido, when a person request a pattern, and I decide to make the pattern for them, I GIVE the pattern to them. With some patterns I place them on my site for sharing and sometimes for sale. If you search for Luther Rose on the forum you will see the pattern Keninar (Ken) carved.

I cant take any credit for the model at all..free off the net. I was using this model for a reference for some retoplogy I am learning for my own models..this just served as a good example...anyways figured I would share the model instead of deleting it. I know this one has been shared before...I think I put it up a couple years ago but with no depth at all...it still needs work but it's fairly nice

I'm not sure about the energizer bunny part, but here is another... and I have to say that this one is making me smile when I post it because it really looks like it is going to be an awesome carve. This one took a little work in the pattern editor to make it a clean pattern, but I am quite happy with the result. With the exception of public domain items, I am going to link the original owner to ensure credit is given where it is due.

If any of you get a chance to carve this or any of the other projects, please post pics of your results so that we can all enjoy them. Oh yeah... and buy the pattern editor folks, it is worth so much more than $200. You have no clue how many other amazing files I am making right now; I just can't post them because they are from sites that do not allow you to redistribute. Looked at the obj..yep a lot of clean up needed..scans produce such a heavy triangulated mesh it renders it untweakable in 3d by grabing vert faces and edges...I could bring the obj in zbrush create a depthmap and then use projection master and project it on a plane and sculpt smooth tweak away with sculpting brushes...the other other method I started getting into which I like a lot better is retoplogizing the model to a low poly model..makes tweaking and editing SO much easier and in the long run way faster...if your using the pattern editor for this the method is basically the same as my zbrush projection method...check out sculptris I beleive you can do the same thing with a lot more power in the tools

Lawrence,

other program you want to check out is coat3d..they have added bas reief feature for cleaning up stl's and obj's..I just bought it last night..cool program for retopology. I bought the $99.00 educational version..pretty cool anyone can buy only limits are 7 layers and and size export for texture. I don't need the program for texturing models so for me it's a steal at 99 bucks..just for the ease of the retopo http://www.3d-coat.com/play_video.php?link=http://pilgway.com/~daniel/video/Barelief_Tut.mp4

This is another you could experiment with if you like,
It's a pattern taken from a picture of a St Lukes Stain Glass Window,
I didn't have time to play with painting it this evening so just made a simitranpsrent mask
of acrylic colors. If anyone can paint reasonably will it could be fun project to try,
the project board is only carved .125 deep to help prevent puddling of colors.
Use a coat of sanding sealer or 2Lb shellac first to prevent the colors
from bleeding or soaking into the wood grain to much.
It's not a paint by numbers project, so use the first photo as a guide,
and modify the colors to your liking. Remember use simitranpsrent colors
so you don't loose the wood grain.

http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u313/ldr_klr/bridge.jpg

My dad, who is very close to pulling the trigger on a machine, asked if I could help design a plaque based on a religious/inspirational message "a bridge of love". (the idea being that the crucifixion was a bridge of love) At any rate, I had fun doing a webinar for my Dad tonight-- showing him how to design from start to finish... from getting the 3d files from sketchup, to transferring them to collada files and then to stl files and then making them into patterns... I then helped design the following which uses just about everything... centerline and conforming vectors, 3d carving, cut outs, and router bit accents on the edges. I thought some of you might enjoy the pattern as well, so here it is.

Practicing a technique used to make rock patterns. This was a quick little exercise. With this technique I can make rock patterns in matter of minutes.

This pattern is so-so but fun. You have to use bit optimization at best due the thin parts in the sword.

oscarl48
07-10-2015, 08:09 PM
Something a little different. I've playing with learning different textures so thought why not a ying yang sign with a smooth perfect side and a rough broken surface sign to represent the differences in life we all experience; happy sad, fast slow, perfection me (I'm the opposite of perfect).

I started a modeling project that just failed miserably but I had a decent female face 3d model so just started building on it and somehow I ended up with Joan of Arc. The lilly of the valleys have been shared previously. mpc built with designer 2 so including the pattern as well.

.5 depth at 100 height and bit optimization to best due to thin parts.
