I have carved the POM (Wanted More Grandkids) in #2 pine which prove to be a bit "pitchy" It has left some residue of wood dust/small chips of wood in the rollers, has anyone encountered this. If so how did you clean your rollers?

I just use my hand but if I encounter some tough spots, I have used fine steel wool or even fine sandpaper. Just be gentle and not scar your roller.

Hello Gean,

Are you using 00000 steel wool ??????????????

Thank you all for telling me how you handle cleaning the rolls.

I used a stiff tooth brush and it did well, I appreciate all of you for your help.

I use a brush and compressed air after every carve. Sometimes wipe with a clean cloth. Check your bit to make sure there is no build up on it

Yes, Very fine steel wool. I use it very sparingly. Usually just my hand as I spin the roller. My bits I clean with spray on carburetor cleaner. Dissolves the pitch and tape adhesive rapidly. Spray on an old rag hold the bit in your hand and turn it backwards in the old rag.

I ask about the steel wool, believe I was incorrect it come in 4/0 not 5/0.

You all are wonderful with your input.

Thanks again. My rolls will be clean now.
