Well, without my carvewrights help, I don't think I would ever be happy with the finished results of Robot Monsters space helmet. I know, it's not quite the typical project around here, but I don't usually make typical things. I wanted an exact (or very close) replica that Ro-Man had in the terrible 1953 film, ROBOT MONSTER. The jig's I made proved priceless in helping this thing get built.

Nice Work, -- Great Job on the Replica Helmet

Ps. I have to agree -- just one of the Terrible Low Budget Class B Si-Fi Films back then

Lets face it Gang, we all loved them and still do just because they were so bad, they were entertaining.

Really nice job Jeff. Yours of course look better than the original.

Entertaining? They do exist, they do, they do. I saw them on the tube.
Great Job!!

Thanks for the compliments guy's. The original was so bad, I think it was made out of paper mache. As bad as that movie was, the Robot/Gorilla is an icon for vintage sci-fi.
I'm building the body, sculpting the feet, and waiting for the fur to come in as we speak.

Are you going to do the MST3000 treatment with the prop also?

I don't remember what they did. I wish that show never ended.

Thanks Michael, I can't wait to see the fur when it comes in. I'm working on the feet now.

So fun!! Thanks for posting the additional pics - looking forward to seeing more of your process!

(One of these days in all your spare time <ha>,you should write up a tutorial on how you make your molds, release agents, what brand materials you prefer, suitable paints, etc!)

Great job....always nice to see really creative projects. Outstanding. Would like to hear more about how you used the CarveWright to produce it...

I would not consider myself an expert in that field quite yet, but I do like to try different things.

As much as I would like to say I built the helmet with the STL importer or something extreme, that is not the case. The carvewright was used to make all the circle cutout jigs, the collar shape, acrylic face plate, and MDF support rings. I wanted these sizes exact, and the carvewright did the job.
