I just picked up the Compucarve box from the UPS distribution center this morning. I had to watch it from the tracking website sit in a box truck all weekend about a mile from my house!

Anyways, now that it is all unpacked and fired up, I am having a problem with the z axis crank. The z head will crank all the way up, but when I try to lower it, the clutch engages and won't lower the head down at all.

Am I missing a switch or something here to lower the head?

Due to the mechanical advantage you have through the crank, there is always a change the head might get stuck when cranked all the way up. The fix is pretty simple. From the front of the machine, look at the threaded rod on the right side of the machine. If you look near the bottom of the rod, slightly above the belt level, you will see a hole in the rod. Take an allen wrench or something of similar size, and turn the rod in the direction to lower the head. It may take a few turns, but you should now be able to lower the head.

Please contact CarveWright if you have any further problems.

Found it! Pg 38 of the Carvewright manual. Described as above.
Thanks!
