Blew through two 1/16" bits in about 3 days... second one had maybe 3 hours on it... Through 1/4" MDF..... not a happy camper

Tips/Thoughts?

Sometimes just using high speed steel bits instead of carbide bits works better, carbide is very brittle as where the high speed is a bit less likely to break, and they cost less... just my 2 cents worth from being a 32+ year machinist.......carbide isn't always a smart choice.

Are you talking about the 1/16 cutting bit or the 1/16 carving bit?? I assuem the cutting bit. Are you setting a pass limits with your cuts? The 1/16 cutting bit is pretty fragile. I typically never go more than 1/8 in a pass with it.

yes the 1/16 cut.... both snapped in projects where max depth was .125"

Couple weeks ago I was using the 1/16 cut for thru cuts on .25" mdf, no issues at all..... anyone have better quality bits them the ones here.... Compucarve with QC

The QC might be part of your problem.... just a guess...

It could be... but the machine has 10 hours on it... So unless something major throws me out of warranty, it's staying for now.

Well then if I were you I'd read up on the QC, make sure you understand how it works, how the little red line is suppose to line up and make sure there isn't any play in the bit before you use it the next time. Make sure you get yourself a little mirror so you can see up under the bottom of the QC, also make sure it is very clean up inside.....
