First I have to say that I am NOT selling anything except posting a note about some tools I use.

Forget about what the CW can and cannot do. I think it is all about what wood you use for carving anything and the detail you will receive on the final carving. I get the best detail using lacewood that has a very interlocking grain. (some call it leopardwood or tigerwood?). Do you like brown?

I found a inexpensive set of Riffler files to do clean-up on details that may need a bit of 'fixing'... I 'love em'.... I even use them on brass and aluminium and whatever...

I'd also suggest that using air dried instead of kiln dried wood seems to produce more fuzzies to be cleaned up.

I made 25 Halloween signs for a craft show(that better sell this week!) out of air dried poplar, pine and oak. They all seemed to need a good bit more time on the sanding mop. I changed to a new carving bit halfway through and it didn't make a significant difference. Best quality helped a little, but I'm sticking to my opinion :)
