Pay attention to head pressure and make sure your board is flat. Also use masking tape under the board. Careful, last time I had this problem I blew a X drive.

"Jerky Drive" I thought maybe you were trying to raise money for dried meat....lol
Is the sand paper tracking correctly, is it running straight on the rollers?
It never hurts to start with a very good cleaning too.

also make sure you don't have the adjustable rail (opposite of keypad) too tight and your material is smooth & straight on the edges (parallel too)

It will happen if the board looses contact with the brass roller, rapidly rocking back and forth.
A rolled under belt will cause this.
A un level head will cause this.
A board missing a chunk of wood at the brass roller contact area.
Sawdust has gotten inside your gear box.
Missing tooth on the X Gear.
Head pressure too loose.
Board jamming and trying to self clear. Due to a tapered board and or right side guide too close.... I keep it a Quarter Width away.
Just a review of all the great ideas from above.
WOW a Troubleshooting Question..... I was having withdrawls... Feeling like the Maytag Repairman....
