Cutting head heat

I am new to this forum as I just bought a Carvewright last week. The machine performs well however there is a large heat buildup (hot to touch) in the cutting head which travels up the flex shaft. The motor end of the shaft does not get hot. From what I have read this is not normal. Thanks for any comments.

Welcome to the forum!! Best guess is either the flex shaft needs to be lubed (check your owners manual) or if it was lubed with the liquid wrench w/molly it was over lubed and some of the lube has run down into the top bearing of the cutting head..

Remove the top hat, 2 screws and wipe excess oil. They are Ceramic Bearings and run at high speed.

If it is a new Carve tite I saw LHR post a break in period causing heat....

That is normal, I too was concern with the heat and called LHR. It is a normal breaking in process, the chuck is loud and gets hot. Once you run it a while it gets cooler and quieter.
