What is the most user-friendly software to make patterns from?

Well that is a tough question. I would suggest learning the designer software first, then use paint.net photo editing software, or any of the other well known software drawing packages. Then step into some 3d software. ken makes some great patterns usning only paint.net and designer, and his patterns can not be beat. Others like myself use photoshop CS, paint.net, paintshop pro 6 and a 3d software. Yet making patterns, without knowing how to use designer and pattern editor will not help much.

I can not think of any photo editing software that is easy to use, thus most will say it is not user friendly. There is a large learning curve with any software, and the efforts you put into learning it will determine the output.
