Whew..the HDU makes some dust!
This is 30lb density Precision Board from Coastal Enterprises. Tough and heavy!
The sign is for a "sign forrest" in Danville, Illinois. I'm participating in an event called "Walldogs" there (http://www.thewalldogs.com/)

The wood texture is from a decent resolution picture of sand blasted wood. I used a grey paint and then 2 glazes of brown to do the color. The Danville is gilded in gold and the "0" is gilded in copper. The paints are acrylic. I did use Coastal Enterprises primer on the HDU...it's a thick primer similar to gesso (if you've ever used that).

Great looking sign.

I like the Walldog ideal, that is literally painting the town.

Very nice nicely done sign. Great design and excellent painting and finishing.

The Walldogs are a great idea, I'm surprised I had never heard of them before now.

Murals make a great tourist attraction, and it's a wonderful way to do a small town improvement.
Two talented local woman have done some very impressive historic murals in a nearby town.

I see these all the time and I still enjoy looking at them. The photos just don't do them justice.

That looks really nice! I've got some samples of HDU that I want to try. I have to get a new CT first though. So I take it that as far as dust in concerned it has all the bad qualities of MDF and acrylic combined? :)

Dhaffner,

Wow, they look super great!

That Walldogs sure looks like a good group for you to get in with, wish you success with them, I checked out their website too but I doubt if there is anything like that here in Pa.
