If scanning a object that has holes, what precautions do you need to be aware of? Should you tape the holes off so the probe goes right over them or will the probe actually hit them and mark them on your scan?

UnitedCases,

I have scanned objects with small (nail) holes. I filled in the holes in the editer after scanning using the tools provided in the software. It was easy.

The scan will mark them on your scan. You shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Actually I am good with the holes being there, I just wanted to make sure that the probe will lift back up when it comes across them.

The holes are 1/2 inch in diameter. In case that makes a difference.

Go for it. Like I said, you have nothing to worry about.

as long as they are not to deep. if the probe body hits befor the stylus you will get an error message.

Yeah, the holes are really no different that going between the legs of an animal. As has been said just make sure that the scan depth is set such that the probe stops before the shoulder hits the item.

Well it worked. I did a scan on draft. I may try it again on normal just to see the difference.
