how do I ?????

I would like outline a pattern and a box to be cut out. The box is needed to attach the pattern to a base.
I pasted a pattern and then add some lines to form a base, but I can't get an outline around both to do a cutpath.
I want the pattern and the base to be at the same level when finished
please see attach .
feel free to change anything, but please let me know what was done.
This will be done in 1/2" corian and attached to a cherry wood base.

any help would be great

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "box". What box?

My main observation, is that I do not think you may apply this cut-out process to 1/2 inch Corian, as it will stress the machine too much (per the manual).

Is this what you are looking for? All I did was close the lower section and then make both items carve regions. Next select both carve regions and select "outline pattern". Then you can remove the carve regions and deleted the unwanted paths.
