Here is a Pharao's mask I generated from a 3D model, made 3 slices, oak. Still in assembly phase, cleaning up the excess wood. Next step is to glue the slices together and using mini sanding mops, blending the edge of the slices and removing all the fuzz. Oak is really not friendly as far as fuzz goes.;)

each slice has 3/4" thickness.

thanks all!
I'm using these (http://www.stockroomsupply.com/The_Mini_Mop.php) from Stockroom Supply. They work really well. The coarser grit can remove wood pretty fast, so I use them carve as well.

As far as finish, I'm partial on using Tung oil. I just need to find the proper stuff to seal those HUGE grain holes so characteristic of oak, they can suck-up a lot of oil.

I'm making progress in sanding the pharaoh. I'll upload a video today on my blog showing the process done on the knuckles.
The right side is mostly done, the left side has not been touched except for the hand.

The plaque is 13" high X 9.5" wide and 2.25" thick at the tip of the nose.
I'm uploading the video on YouTube since my blog limits the uploads to 64MB:(
It should be ready in a couple of hours. I will then post the link here and on my blog.

see the video here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CecSZUN9tM)

I uploaded 700+ MB of high res video and YouTube converted it to 320P and 39MB.. I wanted it to be high res since they state that we can upload high res video... I must be missing something.
