health hazard cutting MDF?

Browsing the net led me to many sites warning of woodworking with MDF without adequate dust collection. Enough so that I have put off a planned project until I research a little more. Since my "shop" is really my basement, air quality should be a premium. My question is, do any of you use dust collection and how concerned should I be when using the CW machine? i.e the amount of dust chips given for the average project

I do use DC under my machine which catches almost all of the excess dust. The machine by it's very nature lets only a little dust escape. MDF is probably less hazardus than you would think, the main concern being fine particuletes which W/O DC you could overcome with a dust mask. Formaldahides, the other concern, are almost non-existant anymore in manufactured wood products. They've proven that the human body emits more than particle board.
