Hi Guys

I have just read through the Tips and Tricks for Jan 2008. It suggests using the following products. We do not have the Gunk brand available to us here. Under each I have added an alternative that I have found available to me in the UK.

1) Gunk (Liquid Wrench) © Industrial Chain Lube with Moly, #L716
Molyslip LQG (http://www.performance-oils.co.uk/cgi-bin/ss000001.pl?PRODREF=113&NOLOGIN=1)
2) Gunk (Liquid Wrench) © Dry Lubricant with CERFLON, #L512
3-IN-ONE With Added PTFE (http://www.performance-oils.co.uk/cgi-bin/ss000001.pl?PRODREF=610&NOLOGIN=1http://www.performance-oils.co.uk/cgi-bin/ss000001.pl?PRODREF=610&NOLOGIN=1)
3) Gunk (Liquid Wrench) © Silicone Spray, #M914
3-IN-ONE Silicone Spray Lubricant (http://www.performance-oils.co.uk/cgi-bin/ss000001.pl?PRODREF=607&NOLOGIN=1)
4) White lithium grease
3-IN-ONE White Lithium Grease (http://www.performance-oils.co.uk/cgi-bin/ss000001.pl?PRODREF=613&NOLOGIN=1)
5) Bicycle chain wax
Castrol Chain Wax (http://www.performance-oils.co.uk/cgi-bin/ss000001.pl?PRODREF=227&NOLOGIN=1)

Are these alternatives ok? Is it absolutely nescessary to have each product? They all seem very similar to me?

Any help apprecieated. Before I go any further with the CW, I want to strip it down and make sure it's running true.

Are you saying the ones you listed are the ones you can get? Your first one looks like the right stuff:

Here is from the CW CarveWright_service_lubricate_flexshaft_core.pdf:

Lubricating the Flexshaft Core
To properly lubricate the Flexshaft Core you will need an approved lubricant: Use only Liquid Wrench Industrial Chain Lube (with moly) or Gunk Industrial Chain Lube (with moly). We have found that a penetrating lubricant containing solid molybdenum disulfide particles (moly) yields superior results.

You can think of the moly particles as millions of tiny ball bearings that penetrate the internal windings of the flexshaft. This lubricant is available at most Ace Hardware stores under the names of Liquid Wrench Industrial Chain Lube (with moly) and Gunk Industrial Chain Lube with Moly. Using any other unapproved lubricant will void the warranty and can potentially cause damage to the machine.

The Gunk products I listed are what the Tips and Tricks article recommends. The links under each one are what I can get in the UK which I think are the same.

I think comparable alternatives will be fine. (the links to those alternative products are not working for me - all had errors for some reason)

The important thing is to use the same types of lubricants and to use them in the correct places. More lubrication is not always better, use just enough to get the job done.
