.. but I don't see the answer anywhere yet. I might have missed it.

I'm trying to do a basic job, routing out a small piece of a board. I specified
the bit in Designer, but this bit doesn't appear as a choice in the CW. Also,
when I'm paging through the choices, the CW will lock up.

Did I miss something? Very possible, I'm new at this and this is the first
project I've done.

Thanks to anyone who can point me to the right info.

If the CW locks up, you probably have the tooltalker setting on. From the main menu, press 0, 5, then up-arrow. It should say "speech enable" or "tooltalker" depending on the version. It should read "off".

Here is a link to information about the Tool Talker, it is a voice system for the CC/CW to assist blind and visually impaired.

It is not actually locking up. It's talking, you just can't hear it with out the box.

Remember the guy that he was scanning and it locked up. He left his machine on and when he came back it was working fine. It didn't lock up...it was talking. When it finished talking, it was ready to go again.

Turn the ToolTalker (or Speech Enable) off.

Ah .. ok thanks. I'll go look for that tomorrow.
I have no idea if it's on or how it got on, but that's a place to check.

I think the default setting for it may have been "on" or something like that when it was released in version 1.160.

It is fixed in 1.163.

just an FYI .. I had tried using the search function to find out about
this, but the search won't allow me to use "lock up" .. the word 'up'
is too short.

Search discriminates against those of us who only know small words.

Hi,

Just so you have better luck in the future, you have to enter it into the search just like you typed it in your post, with the quotes - "lock up" will work as a search. If you don't use the quotes each word must be at least 4 letters long.

Good luck,
Craig

Ah! I've got to get used to how CW does things. I found that out when
trying to 'paste' ..

I checked the machine and the ToolTalk was off, so apparently that
wasn't it. Unfortunately, I couldn't get it to lock up again. The file I was
doing was over-written.. might have been something in the file for all I know.

Still all sorts of things to get used to..

Thanks for the pointers!
