A customer brought in an odd piece of trim to duplicate and I would like to try scanning the piece.
What is the protocol for repeat patterns such as egg and dart where the patterns meet up. Because I link the patterns together they must meet exactly. Is there a method in setting up the size or can sizing be done PE

Here's how I would appraoch this:

First I would scan an area of the trim that would include at least two of the repeating patterns. (egg-dart-egg-dart)

When you import the scan into pattern editor write down the dimensions of the original scan that will appear on the tool bar. After cleaning up the scan you will save as a pattern.

In Designer I would set up an appropriate sized viewable grid and then place my new pattern on the project board. Then size your pattern to match dimensions of your original scan. By paying attention to your grid you should be able to copy/paste your new pattern and line them up quite accurately.

This should get you a nice start.

Let me add one more helpful tip.

Center you patterns horizontally when on the board.
