When you import, have you tried lowering/raising to see if you can make the box disappear (wih out losing to much detail)?

The box is actually your background, even if it is white in your picture.

You can use an image editor to remove the background, or try the raise/lower feature when you import your image to designer.

Check out some of the videos from one of the forum guru's AskBud, I believe he has a lesson or two on importing images.

You can also find great info here in the Tips & Tricks:

Good luck,

thanks for responding,
I've tried raising and lowering but I need to outline the image I'm importing so it can be cut out. I've done it in the past but its been a while, guess I should have taken notes.

Once you "lower" your image on the Import screen, it should be just the image with no "box". Now, when you bring that Pattern into your design board, you should see the "outline" Icon activate. Click it, and you should have your outline.
If by chance you can not eliminate the box while importing, look at the AVI lesson, listed in my Download section below, titled "Pattern Editor".
