It's been awhile since I've posted any projects so thought I'd take this opportunity.

(1) I promised Stanv I'd post his Eagle Cribbage Board when I finished it .... I really liked the way it turned out.

(2) I don't remember who posted this cribbage board but it carved nicely too. I did have several misaligned holes but think it was due to the 1 1/4 inch oak board I used. I probably didn't use enough masking tape for the amount of weight.

(3) The next three are Michael T's POM offerings and those always turn out so nice.

Sharp! That wreath is an eye catcher, and it's the paint that makes it really stand out.

Sharon, WOW! You are amazing!

In particular, it makes me want to carve another Wreath. Your skillful choice of different shades/colors are beautiful. And your Heart Basket...oh my - so nice! I want to do cribbage boards too, but don't know how to play the game - yet.

Thank you for sharing your talent with us!

Michael....you make the cribbage board and if or when they put a conference together I'll teach you how to play....Smile.

Thanks everyone for the nice compliments. This winter has been a slow time out in the shop but I've thoroughly enjoy working on every project that's been put through the machine.

I'm currently working on the Mermaid Fishing Lure....painting her now. But she's a little smaller than I'd like so will probably do another one here in the near future.

It's been a few months since posting any of my projects and would like to share with you a couple of this years POM projects that I've completed. I have the last of the Christmas ornaments in the shop drying with the base coat and I've just carved a Lithopane of one great-grandson playing soccer. Once I carve the box for the Lithophane I'll post that also.

Great job Sharon love the tissue box! The reason why your images can't be seen is you used the insert inline function. I learned that the done button correctly inserts the images, ptns, mpc. rather then showing attachments.

Again I love the projects!

Michael..... I just might consider moving next door to you if you don't have snow. Right now we only have 2 inches but it's still coming down....but isn't that always the way when holiday travel is about to start.

Thanks to all for the nice comments and from Central Oregon I wish everyone a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.

Well, this one is not done to much with the CW but I still wanted to show it off. It's a shoe rack for a Karate School. I had to match the existing cabinets. I think it turned out nice and they are happy. More to show later.

GuitarGuy....On the tissue box the base coat is Olympic oil base-American Cherry, when that was dry a very light coat of a clear semi-gloss poly, then, for the nose a light coat of Golden Acrylic-Interference Red (it gave the nose a reddish-silver sheen). Then several more coats of the rattle can clear semi-gloss poly. Oh, the letters was just an acrylic white paint put on with a small roller. Hope this information helps. Have fun painting.

Yes Doug. I added red beads to the green "leaf" one. And glitter to the other red one. They were the only two that really lent themselves to the extra embelishments.

SharonB
12-16-2010, 12:39 AM
CJ .... you would ask a question about the lighting. Ok, using a woman's terminology...it's a thing-a-mabob with a light bulb. I went to Home Depot and purchased a small single socket light fixture and one of the small energy saving bulbs (you know - one of the Al Gore "Save the world" bulbs). I also bought a long light weight drop-cord, cut it in half (because I needed two cords). I installed one of those in-line switches so I wouldn't have to be unpluging the cord all the time. My box is about 3 1/2 inches deep and so far it hasn't gotten above slightly warm after being on for 5-6 hours at a time.

417794177841777I know others had shared their Book Box Project and mine isn't that much different. But I wanted to show the felt liner. I don't know if others are aware that Michael's has a new line of "printed" felt. It comes in several designs and about six different colors. A 12"x12" piece sells for $.99 and it took 4 pieces to do the inside of the box.

Hey SharonB, I have a question for you. On your stacked books project can you tell us how you finished the other sides that you didn't show. Meaning the edge of where the pages would be. Maybe you can post another picture. I'm getting ready to put a finish on mine but got stumped on how to do that part. Thanks

Jerry.... here are the "pages." I don't know just how well they will show as I took them this evening.

Edit: Forgot to add I used a course sandpaper (80 grit-pulling in as straight line as possible) on the "pages" before painting so the Burnt Umber paint had a place to pool.

Here is a stool for the Great-Granddaughter that I constructed using the pattern posted by DickB. It really turned out nice using oak stair tread ends for the sides and brace and regular 3/4 oak for the top. I just need to put the top coating(s) on.

My apology if it seemed I hi-jacked your thread. When I read the last posting before I inserted mine I though this was a ongoing open thread. Michael....you make the cribbage board and if or when they put a conference together I'll teach you how to play....Smile.

Look what I just found!!!! Does anyone remember this challenge?????

Count me in!!!! I've never played. I don't need to bust open my quarters jar or find some matches somewhere do I??

SharonB
03-23-2011, 12:43 AM
Lynn...that's really not fair to poor Michael on this challenge thing. I'll bet he is up to his eyebows trying to get his part of the workshop put together. But, if you have a few minutes during the conference, and have a cribbage board, I might give you a lesson or two. I have to let you know though that almost anyone around my neighborhood doesn't have a problem beating me most of the time.... and to top it off there is always beginners luck. No, you won't need to many quarters as we could play for a penny a point (Smile).

Now, if you want to play New Zealand poker you'll have to bring your quarters along. Note: There is probably another name for this type of poker but I learned to play it in New Zealand and so that's what the family calls it.

Steve, It took just under 3 hours, no issues. I wanted to use a better choice of wood but 14" was a challenge but pine worked great. I posted it on my facebook page and have received more comments than any other project. Thanks for sharing Steve, you did a wonerful job in creating it.
