If you are talking about a solid box, with no lid, in the design, it is very possible. The main question is how do you wish the interior (Corners) to look.
If they may be round, or no defined corners, you could use Vector Cuts (Squares, Rectangles, Drilled Holes, etc) and set "Max Pass Depth" as well. The Max Pass Depth is something we can not currently accomplish with the Raster carve.

If you are asking if the CW can route an area 3/4" deep in a 1" thick board, yes it can, although it can be used to create much more interesting boxes.

There are even patterns for sale for several kinds of boxes.
