What say you about the attached? Main body of the design is approx. 14" x 36", the oval is designed to hang by small chains under the grapes, and is approx. 8" x 15".

Indoor sign, no worries about weather, etc.

Your input is appreciated.

Jerry,

Looks really good to me, Nice Job.
What do you plan to carve it out-of
and is going to be painted, Stained, or Both

Looks like it will make a fine carving. This may sound petty, (and of course it is the cutomers choice) but isn't the abbreviation for Established "Est."? I don't mean to nitpick, just something that caught my eye.

Thx, Ken.

For me, the woodworking part's easy - it's the finishing part I have trouble with:rolleyes:

I've been using sponge brushes - cone-shaped on a wooden handle - that do a pretty good job of painting the surface of text - that's probably the answer there. The grapes, leaves, etc. will likely be painted, the rest stained (haven't gotten to the center design yet).

You might remember that I have a ton of ash I've been using, and it really looks great with a poly type finish over bare wood.

JD - I tried "est.", couldn't make it look quite right - I'll work on it, I think you're right.

They are fantastic looking signs, the only thing I might consider adding to the oval sign is a couple of grain stalks in the back of the wording but that would depend on looks. The Soltace Winery sign will absolutely make a beautiful work. Nice job

I've been considering trying some colored stains instead of paint... haven't as of yet, but on some signs I want to see the wood but have the color as well, I just haven't as of yet.

No, I don't think it is if you subdue it a little by making the background a little lower (at least from the lighting direction on this image).

I would also suggest manipulating the Arced wording so that it is not stretched. Make sure you enlarge or make smaller with the red dots and then adjust the ARC to fit the curvature. I also agree with EST. instead of ESTAB

It will make a great sign!

I'm not familiar with "Meads"?

Mead is basically a honey wine - makes us Danes a little crazy:cool:.

The Vikings drank the stuff like water - that's why they were so damn mean, and why they left a trail of women with dazed looks on their faces in their wake.

I better stay off that stuff then, I'm mean enough.

I like your design.

The wording on the round circle look distort which didn't make it look not so good and it can be corrected.

Got it - doh!

One more small thing... reduce the spacing between letters on the lower words so that they don't seem to run on into the Est. and year and you have a grand champion of a design
