I want to make a taper from a 12" diameter circle to a concentric 6" diameter circle. I darw a 12" circle and carve to 0.1" Then I feather 1/2". Then I draw a 11" diameter circle and feather 1/2". I expected that the result would be a feather from 12" to 10". I don't get that regardless of merge setting.

O.K. If I can't do that, what about stepping down in intervals. I start again and draw a 12" circle and carve to .1". Than I daw a 11" circle and carve to o.2". I use merge additive to reveal what I am after. Boy, I've got this solved. I draw a 10" circle and carve to .3". No matter what I try, however, this carving doesn't show up. I then try another piece from smaller to larger circles, but I can't get it to work. Is it a limitation of the software or my technique?

How about using the 90-degree V-groove bit and adjusting depth. Would that give you enough taper? I presume you want to taper sort of in a cone shape, right?
