gui shut down

while in pattern editor if I try to export to file I get a gui has encounted a problem and is shutting down message any suggestions. thanks in advance

Deleting some old patterns sometimes will work.

Happens to me sometimes, too - real pain.

The only thing I can figure is that when you've made a bunch of changes, the machine has a brain cramp, and shuts down. I've made it a practice to save my changes (exporting to file) often - kind of like auto save in Word. That way, if you do get a gui error, you haven't lost all the work, just the work since last save.
