Hi all. After lurking for a few weeks, I'm making my first post.

I just completed a scan of a part that is .902 tall. I saved it the library and placed the pattern in a new project with a thickness of 1.625. When I go to upload the project, I get an error message that says the pattern is too deep to be carved.

I thought the max was 1"? Thoughts?

It used to be 1". I think after the latest firmware upgrades theyhave reduced it to .8" now.

Is there a way to revert back to older firmware?

Is it possible to "break" the scan into two thinner sections...say two at 0.450"? If so, how?

if you have a 3D model in STL format and you have purchased the STL import plugin for Designer, you can split it into 2 carves (though the STL importer only allows .75" cutting depth).

You cut cut to 1" with some bits - the 1/8" cutting bit that came with the machine is one.

Artcam can take a greyscale and split it into any number of slices of equal thickness, and save each slice as another greyscale. You then import the greyscale into designer to create a pattern for each slice. No STL involved.

good to know - thanks

How do you slice up a greyscale in Artcam?
