I just got a used PowerMac desktop so that I can use a few pieces of audio software together and I just installed Designer. Is anyone else using Designer on OS X that might know of any glitches or oddities I should look out for?
Also, if anyone is doing any 3D CAD on a Mac that can recommend some software, that would be great.

I'm using OS 10.6.2 and so far so good. Had some problems with the last 2 versions but the latest Designer seems okay. I'm a Mac, and by the way, I will NOT tone it down, either.

I'm running OS X 10.4.11 on a PowerPC-based Mac Mini and have had no problems whatsoever with the software. It's been stable and upgrades have been a snap (as is just about everything on a Mac!).
Unfortunately, I don't have any recommendation for 3D CAD on OS X. I recently had an experience with ProEngineer from PTC on a Windows-based machine and can see a use for such a tool but I really wouldn't want to deal with the complexity of an industrial-strength CAD tool. I've used Google SketchUp a bit for more basic drawings and some 3D work but I'm no expert. At some point I might seek out something more robust but until I have a need for CNC on a lathe or mill I'll just keep using the Designer and SketchUp.

SketchUp is not quite enough for me. I was using SolidWorks on WinXP and I was just getting good at it when I got the chance to grab this Mac. I've been testing Ashar-Vellum's Cobalt.

I used to use Lightwave way back in my Amiga days. Nice to see they are still going strong... even though the Amiga's are not :(

I use this on my mame machine so I can still play all my old amiga games. I also have run my old version of lightwave on it from time to time. It really is pretty faithful to the original amiga experience.
Btw... I still have an 500,1000,4000.... i just cant bear to part with em.

I'm going to check those out. I have a demo of Ashlar-Vellum Cobalt installed right now.

When I looked it up, it seems that lwcad is a plugin for LightWave and I would need both, so I guess it wouldn't be cheaper.
