Quick question about outdoor signs. What is the general opinion of using Thompsons Water Sealer? I would love to hear the pro's and con's please. Thanx y'all

When I worked for my uncle as a teen at his sign shop we would soak the whole sign in a 5 gallon bucket of Thompson for about an hour or when we remembered! It soaked in the sealer and did well. For decks it has to be done over and over because most people just brush it on and just enough. With sealer it is like stain you need to apply it on heavy let soak then wipe.
