Testing cuts?

Do you guys test your carvings in something like mdf or just wood you have laying around before you cut it on the actual piece?

Aaron, I only run a test piece (usually in pine) if I am going to use a premium piece of wood, like a large piece of maple, walnut, etc. It wastes time, but saves money. You can always run your test project in the lowest quality setting (draft mode I think).

I'll sometimes run a test if it's a complicated, multi function piece. Usually if it looks good in the software, it'll work on wood.
